Our main goal is to empower students, individuals and communities to safeguard
wetlands against soil pollution, create awareness about the vital role of birds in
environmental health and promote sustainable practices through educational initiatives
and active community engagement.
In World there are more than 10,000 birds, and in india there more than 1000 birds.
Birds play important role in eco system as they help in pollination, seed dispersal, act as
natural fertilizers. For us to have healthy eco system, all the species including plants
and animals need to be balanced. One third of birds depends on wetlands. Wetlands,
like lake are facing degradation due to the plastic pollution caused by single-use
plastics, waste dumping and encroachments. This pollution not only disrupts the natural
balance but also leads to the loss of habitats for local and migratory bird species.
Consequently, this poses a threat to the ecological balance in the wetland area and
surroundings.
Our organization Kuyili envisions a world where all species, especially birds, thrive in
safe habitats, ensuring a balanced ecosystem for the well-being of humans and a
healthy environment.”
Kuyili Organization successfully conducted a presentation on birds and a tree plantation
program at Arunachalam Hindu Government Aided Middle School in Kaalnattampuliyur
Village, Cuddalore District, on January 7, 2024. A total of 35 students from grades 6 to 8
actively participated in the event.
The presentation was designed to engage the 35 students in learning about birds and
understanding the importance of environmental conservation. To capture their attention,
a variety of bird pictures were showcased. An interactive food chain activity was
conducted to help the students comprehend the delicate balance of ecosystems.
The session also emphasized the crucial role of bird species in maintaining a healthy
environment. Information was shared regarding the significance of preserving different
bird species and their contribution to the ecosystem.
Furthermore, the event addressed environmental issues such as plastic pollution and
underscored the importance of tree plantation. A practical approach was taken by
organizing a fruit tree plantation activity, involving each grade of students. 5 Saplings,
including guava, neem, and mango, measuring 4 feet in height, were provided for the
plantation.
This holistic approach aimed to instill a sense of environmental responsibility among the
students, fostering a deeper understanding of the interconnectedness of nature. The
event not only educated the participants but also encouraged practical actions like tree
plantation to contribute positively to their surroundings.
